Earth.Wind.Water. Is an exhibition bringing together three like minded artists, all with a love of the natural environment surrounding them and creating a suite of artworks that are engaging, complimentary and ethereal.
Britt Mikkelsen is a Perth based sculptor, designer and public artist, whose repertoire is diverse. Her work explores the hidden beauty in nature, the lost things, the things we often ignore in our daily lives. Her work often uses lighting both symbolically and literally to engage the onlooker and create a sense of wonder.
Andrew Cross works with the most appropriate materials for the site and the concept, be it sourced from the site itself or those that reflect the place in that environment. He often melds natural with man-made objects to produce a juxtaposition of textures and shapes.
Vania Lawson is drawn to landscapes with distinct light and texture, the movement of all weather conditions and how that plays on our surroundings. She builds up multiple translucent layers of colour, alternating between soft brushstrokes and large, sweeping gestures to evoke the movement and depth in a cyclical process to produce the final image.
